New Rusch Park playground to open soon, following delay
A new $350,000 playground at Rusch Park missed its targeted opening date of Nov. 22 due to construction delays. A revised opening date is expected to be announced later this week, according to Sunrise Recreation and Park District spokeswoman. More than 1,000 lose power in Citrus Heights from recent storm
Over 1,000 customers in Citrus Heights lost power last week on Tuesday after a storm brought rain and high winds to the area. Across the region, upwards of 50,000 customers lost power, with the majority being restored by Wednesday morning, The Sacramento Bee reported.
Obituary: Man who opened Citrus Heights repair shop in 1953 passes away
Wilmer “Joe” Rubash, who opened Lone Star Service in Citrus Heights in 1953, passed away on Nov. 20 at age 88. He retired from the shop in 1993, and also served in the Korean War on the USS Witek, according to an obituary published in The Sacramento Bee last week. Lone Star Service remains open at 7515 Sun Ave., just off Auburn Boulevard. (See full obituary)
Suspect arrested again after stealing bait a third time, CHPD says
Citrus Heights police announced the arrest of a suspect on Monday after he reportedly stole a bait item for the third time. Police said the suspect, Citrus Heights resident Theodore Blanchard, had previously been arrested for stealing bait two times in 2017. (See more)
