Sentinel staff report–
This year’s March 3 primary election is several months earlier than usual, and there’s also a few more local changes for voters to be aware of.
New this year, a stamp is not needed for mailing in vote-by-mail election ballots. Ballots must be postmarked on or before March 3 to be counted. There’s also a new secure ballot drop box outside City Hall that can be utilized 24 hours a day from now through Election Day.
Those wishing to vote in person can do so at three vote centers in Citrus Heights, all of which will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. The centers will also be open three or 10 days prior to the election for early, in-person voting:
- City Hall, 6360 Fountain Square Drive. City Hall will operate as an 11-day vote center, opening for voters from Feb. 22 through March 3, 2020. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
- Citrus Heights Fellowship, 7405 Mariposa Ave. A four-day vote center will open at the church on Feb. 29, with hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
- Sylvan Oaks Library, 6700 Auburn Blvd. A four-day vote center will be open at the library on Feb. 29 and March 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours on March 2 will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Election Day hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Voters can also opt to cast their vote at any vote center in Sacramento County. For a full list, click here.
