The past 12 months of 2020 were filled with ups and downs in Citrus Heights and across the nation, with the city welcoming new businesses and also saying goodbye to some.
Below are 10 businesses that closed their doors in Citrus Heights in 2020.
Stein Mart. Starting off the year in January 2020, Stein Mart in the Birdcage Marketplace announced clearance sales of its merchandise, in preparation for the store’s closure. See prior article: Stein Mart to close store in Citrus Heights; clearance sales underway
Pier 1 Imports. Also announcing closure in January was the Pier 1 store at 6245 Sunrise Blvd., which closed along with several hundred other company stores nationwide.
Mom’s Floral Shop. A floral shop at 8252 Auburn Blvd. was forced to close in October after a longstanding dispute with the landlord who claimed the tenant failed to pay nearly 12 months in back rent. For more, see story: Citrus Heights floral shop forced to close amid landlord-tenant dispute
Cut it Up. A small barber shop across from the former Sylvan Middle School lot closed its doors in 2020, amid the pandemic. The shop has since reopened with new owners and a different name.
Silver Dragon. A popular Chinese restaurant in the Sunrise Village Shopping center closed its doors in January, in advance of extensive plans to renovate the aging shopping plaza. For more, see prior story: Popular Chinese restaurant in Citrus Heights closes; plans to relocate
Car Czar. The Car Czar auto repair shop at Greenback Lane and San Juan Avenue was transferred to a new owner and was renamed over the summer. For more, see story from August: End of an era for Citrus Heights auto shop
Costume Junction. The popular costume shop closed its Auburn Boulevard location in June, citing struggles due to the pandemic. PizzaRev. Closing out the year, PizzaRev at 5450 Sunrise Blvd. closed its doors. The business first opened in 2018, following a remodel of the retail center.
