Sentinel staff report– In an unusual theft in Citrus Heights early Wednesday morning, police say at least one suspect ripped out a Chase Bank ATM on Sunrise Boulevard using a stolen forklift.
The ATM machine and forklift were later located about a half-mile away, behind Sunrise Mall, according to CBS 13. No cash ended up being stolen.
A short video of the stolen forklift and ATM, after the suspect apparently fled the scene, was posted by a CBS photojournalist on Twitter. The large, orange lift was reportedly stolen from a nearby construction site, the news station reported.
Lieut. Michael Wells told The Sentinel Thursday afternoon that a suspect or suspects have not yet been identified, but detectives are currently “following up on leads and evidence recovered at the scene.”
