Citrus Heights teen sends love to local police department
The Citrus Heights Police Department received a certificate, flowers and plaques from a local teen who saved his allowance to show appreciation for the department, video from ABC 10 last week showed. The teen, Ronald Carmon, said the local department had surprised him on Christmas and credited the department with its service to the community. Police also honored the teen with a “Citizen of the Year” award. (See video)
Former Citrus Heights resident mistakenly killed by police in Idaho
A fatal case of mistaken identity led to an Idaho police officer killing a father of four in his backyard last weekend, according to the Idaho Falls Police Department. According to the Sacramento Bee, the man, Joseph Johnson, was a resident of Citrus Heights, prior to his family moving to Idaho. (See police statement)
Planning Commission approves new Monopine cell towers
The Citrus Heights Planning Commission during a 45-minute Zoom meeting on Wednesday unanimously approved proposals for two AT&T ‘Monopine’ cell towers, including a new install on Tupelo Drive and an extension and redesign of an existing tower on Van Maren Lane. Commissioner Andrew Van Duker removed himself from the vote on the the Tupelo Drive project due to a potential conflict of interest.
