A former sports bar building on Mariposa Avenue has been listed for sale, commercial real estate sources show.
The building at 7753 Mariposa Avenue, formerly home to the 10th Inning sports bar, is listed on LoopNet for $275,000. The single-story structure is around 1,800-square-feet and sits on a lot about 5,400-square-feet, according to the listing.
The building was built in 1951 and is situated in what was once one of Citrus Heights’ first commercial districts, along with Hall’s Furniture and other shops.
As reported previously by The Sentinel, in the 1950’s the shopping area on Mariposa Avenue near Antelope Road was a spot where residents could get gas, drop off mail, and shop for clothes, furniture, and more. A small, two-story post office opened in 1947 in a back area next to Hall’s, run by the postmaster who also owned Wood’s Variety store in the same shopping center.
Hall’s Groceries & Meats also opened next door to the furniture store, but was sold by the Hall family in the 1960’s and continues to operate as a small grocery store today. A pair of Texaco gas pumps were also located outside Hall’s.
Although largely a farming community up until the 60’s, Citrus Heights picked up population after the war and also had a new housing area spring up near Mariposa Avenue and Watson Way, creating demand for household furniture and other items.
An attempt to contact the listing agent for the former sports bar was unsuccessful. Keith Blake, owner of All Welcome barber shop next door said the building would be a difficult location for another restaurant. Noting limited visibility from the nearest main roads, he said the location might work for another type of business that doesn’t rely on high traffic counts.
The owner of a neighboring business who did not want to be identified said the bar had a peaceful clientele. Accompanying social media pages for the business have been deleted.
The listing describes the property condition as “Deferred Maintenance” and water was observed leaking from a hole in the ceiling and running under the front door during a recent visit by a reporter from The Sentinel.
