The procession to honor United States Marine Sergeant Nichole Gee of Roseville who was killed during the evacuation of the Kabul airport in Afghanistan is scheduled to travel through Citrus Heights this week.
Honoring our Fallen, a support organization for military families who have lost loved ones, released the planned route Wednesday. The procession is scheduled to depart Sacramento International Airport Thursday, Sept. 16, at 12:45 p.m.
The route takes the procession along eastbound Greenback Lane, from I-80 to Mount Vernon Memorial Park at 8201 Greenback Ln. in Fair Oaks, according to the release.
“We reach out to the community through media to ask for your support in lining the route with flags to honor this hero as she is returned home,” the release said.
Gee was one of 13 United States troops and at least 60 Afghans killed Aug. 26 when two suicide bombers attacked a crowd of people outside the Kabul airport during evacuation efforts, according to reports by Associated Press and CBS13.
