Lathrop hires new police chief with Citrus Heights roots
The City of Lathrop, located just south of Stockton, last week announced the hiring of a Citrus Heights native to head its new standalone Police Department, according to the Manteca-Ripon Bulletin. The department is slated to go fully online next year, repeating the steps Citrus Heights first took in launching its own police department more than 15 years ago. (See story)
Obituary: Debra Reyes (1956-2021)
Citrus Heights resident Debra Reyes passed away on Sept. 2 after a battle with cancer. According to an obituary published Saturday in The Sacramento Bee, she is remembered for being a mother to all, and her mindset of acting generously “simply because it was the Right Thing To Do.” She leaves behind two children and a grandchild. A celebration of life is slated to be announced at a later date.
City recognizes Citrus Heights ‘Snack Man’ for work helping homeless
The City Council on Thursday issued a proclamation recognizing Citrus Heights resident Alfred Sanchez for his efforts to feed and advocate on behalf of local homeless, as well as help resolve complaints and issues related to homelessness. Sanchez is known as the “Snack Man” for bringing snacks to area homeless each week. His motto is “love everyone.” (See video)
