Citrus Heights police arrested five female suspects near San Juan High School last week after officers responded to a report of felony vehicle vandalism.
A heavy police presence could be seen on Greenback Lane in front of San Juan High school about 11 p.m., where officers stopped a white Chevrolet Malibu with out of state plates. Several suspects were observed detained at the scene.
A woman at the scene who identified herself as Cassandra Mitchell said several girls vandalized her vehicle, causing significant damage. Mitchell said the vehicle was parked at her residence near the high school and said she was home at the time and ran outside when the incident occurred.
“They all came and busted out the windows in my car, threw rocks at my car, threatened me,” Mitchell said. “I’m someone’s mom at the end of the day, and I want justice served, I want them to go to jail, I can point them all out.”
An unidentified witness at the scene said four vehicles were involved, with two occupants in each vehicle. Mitchell claimed the girls had a connection to a gang in South Sacramento, and the incident was spurred by jealousy.
Citrus Heights Police Lt. Chad Morris confirmed in an email Sunday that officers had determined felony vandalism had occurred, but said there was no indication of gang activity. He said five females were arrested, but did not specify names or ages.
“This appears to have been a dispute between parties that knew one another,” Morris said. “We have no reason to believe this was gang related at this time.”
