Sentinel staff report–
The Sunrise Mall parking lot is already taking on a prehistoric look, as a “Jurassic Empire” drive-thru dinosaur exhibit sets up to take over the area for the next two weekends.
According to an announcement on Jurassic Empire’s Facebook page and website, the drive-thru event will be open Friday-Sunday on Jan. 21-23, and Thursday-Sunday on Jan. 27-30. Two-hour time slots are available for booking at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, and more options on weekends between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Attendees are advised to enter off Greenback Lane onto Arcadia Drive and look for signage at the event’s entrance.
As previously reported, a description online invites attendees to “experience over 60 moving, breathing, massive dinosaurs from the comfort and safety of your own vehicle.” The tour takes anywhere from 15 minute to an hour, depending on the amount of vehicle traffic.
Tickets can be purchased online for $45 per vehicle on weekdays and $55 on weekends, for up to 7 passengers. Vehicles with up to 14 passengers can also register, for $30 more per vehicle.
The drive-thru event came to Roseville last January and drew long lines of cars and vans. Attendees remained in their vehicles and traveled slowly through the exhibit, with windows and sunroofs open.
The traveling dino exhibits are current set up in Southern California, but will travel to Northern California later this month. Additional cities will also be announced soon, according to Jurassic Empire’s website.
