Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights Police on Monday released information stemming from a weekend collision at Sylvan Corners that involved a heavy police presence, saying several suspects attempted to flee the scene.
Police Lt. Chad Morris said in an email that officers arrived at the scene on July 30, where a truck had collided with a tree. He said several individuals were attempting to flee the scene, and one suspect “refused to comply” with police and was arrested.
The suspect, whose name was not released due to his status as a minor, allegedly “began throwing canned alcohol beverages” at officers as they attempted to detain him. After being detained, Morris said the individual threatened to come to the police station with an assault rifle and “kill members of the police department.”
The suspect also allegedly “began kicking the patrol vehicle’s door, causing the door to bend out of place and not function normally,” the police lieutenant said. The individual was placed under arrest for vandalism, threats towards officers and resisting arrest.
Police confirmed the related collision involved only one vehicle. The Sentinel reported previously that the vehicle involved was a white Chevrolet pickup truck, which was observed partially blocking a lane of Auburn Boulevard after striking a tree in the center median near Sylvan Corners.
Several police vehicles blocked one lane of Auburn Boulevard following the collision, and at least four police vehicles were also seen in the Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot nearby, where the arrest is believed to have occurred.
