In the midst of rising COVID cases statewide, on Nov. 13, Sacramento County was officially demoted to “purple tier” status, the state’s most restrictive level. These restrictions include, among other things, the closure of indoor operations for gyms, fitness centers, and restaurants.

As the election approaches and voters ponder their decision about Citrus Heights’ Measure M (the latest attempt of the city to raise the taxes on its residents), I reflect on my nearly 60 years of life, as well as my personal finances over that time.
As a longtime resident of Citrus Heights and having been on the City Council from 1999-2005 and 2016 to the present, I remember when the city was one of only two other cities in California who could say three things:
