FOOD FOR FIDO PET FOOD DRIVE
OCT 1-15TH, 2018
I love my dog! No REALLLLLYYY, I LOVE my dog. I’m sure you do too and anyone else you talk with will say the same. I heard that most of us have more pictures of our pets than we do of our spouse. Guilty here. Very guilty. But I’ll go home and take a few more.
If I took a poll and asked if you considered our pets “just pets” or “family” I doubt there would be many who would admit they didn’t consider their pet a part of the family. I mean, don’t we talk to them like they’re people anyways? (They are, by the way).
According to Business Insider:
• Pet owners spend an average of $126.19 every month on their furry friends
• Dogs are more costly than cats
• Fish are the cheapest pets; fish owners spend $62.53 a month!
I could say that’s insane…but I do it too.
I don’t think our financial status even matters when we think of what we spend (or want to spend) on our pets. We’ll do what we can.
It’s a little harder for those who don’t have much though.
That’s why “Food for Fido” was born. It was out of the desire to help feed the pets of those who need a little more help. It begin about 3 years ago to support the Meals on Wheels AniMEALs program. Many low income seniors will feed their pets before they eat. This, in turn, negatively impacts their health. This year we want to bless the Fair Oaks/OV Food Bank and the Sunrise Christian Food Ministries Food Bank as well.
The Pet Food Drive will take place from Monday Oct. 1st to Monday, October 15th.
We’re asking you to donate any type of Pet Food and even pet toys to this drive. While it’s called Food for Fido, it’s for dogs, cats, and any other pet you would like to support. We have local drop off locations that you can find on our “Food for Fido Sacramento & Placer” Facebook Page, or you can contact me, Luz Johnson, at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 916-397-9490.
