If you enjoy perusing through garage sales, you likely won’t want to miss the Citrus Heights Community Marching Band’s giant Spring Yard Sale going on for the first two weekends in May.
Explore a half-acre’s worth of items, including boats, tools, lighting, children’s outdoor play furniture, clothes, furniture, bicycles, toys, and even an electric children’s carousel.
The yard sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Friday, May 3, and continuing on Saturday and Sunday, at 7620 Linden Avenue, in Citrus Heights. The sale will also continue the following weekend, from May 10-12, 2019.
Early-birds should plan on lining up by 7:30 a.m., said Kathy Cook, who serves as CHCMB co-program director with her husband Bill. The band is under the direction of Kody Tickner.
“This yard sale is our biggest of the year,” Cook said, who gave The Sentinel a sneak-peak tour of the thousands of items which have been generously donated for this year’s sale. Proceeds from the twice-annual CHCMB yard sale helps to pay for uniforms, music and instruments and to keep the program free to participants, Cook said.
“A lot of people come back year after year,” she said. “We’ve received donations from all over the area, and there’s so much stuff, even I don’t know everything that’s here.”
The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band holds two yard sales each year. Band members and volunteers began the collecting and planning just after Labor Day.
The CHCMB launched in 2005, performs in parades, festivals, and field competitions throughout the greater Sacramento area including the “Howl O’Ween” parade each year.
Current and former musicians ages 7 to 87 are welcome to join the CHCMB. Membership, uniforms, and instrument use is free. The band meets Monday evenings at Sunrise Mall (next to Red Robin) during the summer months.
