The Citrus Heights Sentinel was founded in 2014 and is a locally owned and operated community news website, run by residents of Citrus Heights.
Why we exist: The Sentinel’s purpose is to serve fellow residents with truthful, timely and professional coverage of local news and events — focusing on stories that tend to go unnoticed in other media reports.
Our focus is local because we’ve noticed that larger news sources in our region often overlook important things going on in our city, as their reach is too broad to cover what they consider “small-town news.” We strive to fill this void by exclusively covering stories within our city borders and helping raise visibility to local events that build our community together.
Sara Beth Williams. The Sentinel’s editor and primary writer is a long-time resident of Citrus Heights with a background in writing, education, social media and blog and website management. Sara Beth strives to make knowledge more widely available and focuses on school, community, business and civic issues. She lives locally with her husband, two daughters and two cats.
The Sentinel was founded by Luke and Nadezhda Otterstad, who moved to Citrus Heights in 2013 and raised their children in Area 6.
