Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights police are warning drivers to avoid driving drunk during holiday festivities this weekend and are increasing DUI enforcement through Sunday, July 7.
In a news release, police said seven people were killed and 73 were injured in alcohol-related crashes on July 4th last year.
“Driving with just a buzz doesn’t cut it,” said Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Shaun Gualco in his department’s statement to news media. “With the rise in ride-share options, there really is no excuse for driving impaired.”
Police said increased enforcement began on Wednesday and will continue through Sunday.
