Sentinel staff report–
Shots were fired Monday afternoon after police in Citrus Heights responded to a neighborhood disturbance near Twin Oaks Avenue.
Police Lt. Chad Morris told reporters that a male suspect had pointed a gun at officers while they were responding to “some sort of neighborhood disturbance “in the area of Garry Oak Drive and Twin Oaks Avenue. He said shots were then fired and the man fled inside a house.
Police then surrounded the home and the man allegedly pointed a gun at officers again, leading to the suspect being shot by police, Morris said. Police later said in a tweet that the “barricaded subject fired at officers forcing the officers to shoot him.”
“Investigation is ongoing and the scene is stable,” police tweeted around 5:30 p.m. “There are no outstanding subjects.”
Police said there was about two hours between the first shooting and when shots were fired the second time.
The department said medical attention was being provided to the suspect on scene, but did not comment on his condition. Roadways in the area are expected to remain closed for several hours.
