Sentinel staff report–
This year’s annual “Holiday Referral Program” in Citrus Heights looked a bit different due to COVID-19, but the Police Department and community volunteers still came together to support those facing hardships.
The Citrus Heights Police Department shared a six-minute video and slideshow recap of the department’s program, which brings in community donations to help families who suffered hardships over the past year. Families are selected through referrals made by other community members.
In prior years, a police caravan would deliver gifts in person to various houses around the city. This year, volunteers and police can be seen in the video loading up donated gifts, and police are also shown dropping off gifts at the Sayonara Center.
“Because of your generosity, adopted families were provided gifts, clothing, food, blankets, and more,” the department posted on Facebook on Wednesday.
The video concludes with holiday greetings from Mayor Steve Miller, City Manager Christopher Boyd, and Police Chief Ron Lawrence.
