Despite the pandemic’s impact on small businesses, especially restaurants, a new pizza restaurant opened Monday at Sunrise Boulevard and Antelope Road, taking up a spot formerly occupied by New York Pizza.

On June 21, Pizza Boyz opened its doors at 7829 Sunrise Blvd. Owner Muneeb Mian told The Sentinel business was slow the first day, but he’s seen a slight increase for each day he has been open.

“We’ve been renovating for the past two months,” Mian said. “It was just really hectic, but we wanted people to have a good experience once they came in the shop.”

Pizza Boyz is family operated, and Mian said his brother helps with the day-to-day operations. The business is independently owned, according to Mian.

Menu items include standard pizza faire such as cheese, pepperoni, garden veggie, garlic chicken, buffalo ranch, Mediterranean, Hawaiian, and supreme. The restaurant also offers specialty pizzas, and Mian said the brisket pizza is popular.

Other specialty pizzas include carne asada, cheeses burger, chicken tikka, and taco supreme. Wings are also on the menu with six different sauce flavors.

According to Pizza Boyz’ Yelp page, the eatery is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and open til 9 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
