One man was hospitalized and a suspect is at-large after police said a clerk was shot Monday night at the 7-Eleven store at Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard.
Citrus Heights Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel in an email Tuesday officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 p.m. on October 18. The caller said he was a clerk at the store and had been shot.
Responding officers found the clerk with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Wells said. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot and Wells said officers searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the description given. Police said the suspect was described as a black male adult wearing all black clothing, a black ski mask, and a black pack.
Police do not believe the suspect and the clerk were known to each other. Wells said it appears a confrontation between the clerk and the suspect led to the shooting, and confirmed a robbery did not occur.
