Sentinel staff report–
A section of Auburn Boulevard was shut down for about six hours Saturday morning after a vehicle collision with a pole knocked down wiring into the roadway.
The Citrus Heights Police Department sent out an advisory about the incident just after 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 1, stating that the roadway was shut down between Greenback Lane and Manzanita Avenue, with no estimated time of repairs being completed.
An officer at the scene told The Sentinel the line was a telecommunications line, and not high voltage. As of 11 a.m., the left-turn lane from westbound Greenback Lane onto Auburn Boulevard was closed, and northbound traffic was also blocked at Auburn Boulevard and Manzanita.
Police Sgt. William Dunning said the incident involved a single vehicle colliding with a pole around 8 a.m. He said the driver was uninjured and cooperative. DUI is not believed to be a factor, he said.
Police said the low voltage pole belongs to Consolidated Communications, which had crews on scene shortly after 11 a.m. The roadway eventually reopened shortly after 2 p.m.
