The Civic Minute: What’s happening at Citrus Heights City Hall?

City Council members will meet Thursday evening to consider approving a $3 million roadway project, hold a public hearing on waste fee increases, and consider authorizing a new Small Business COVID Recovery Grant Program.

Below is a summary of what’s included in the council’s agenda packet for Jan. 27, 2022.

Greenback Lane Improvements. The council will consider awarding a $3 million contract to McGuire and Hester for the city’s Greenback Lane Complete Streets Improvement Project, which will conduct pavement repairs and street improvements between Sunrise and Fair Oaks boulevards. The council will also consider a related $335,000 contract with Psomas for construction management.

Public Hearing. The council will hold a public hearing regarding proposed rate increases for Republic Services’ residential waste and recycling. The increases were proposed to address added costs incurred to implement new organics waste recycling requirements. (See prior story for more)

Financial report. The council will consider accepting and filing the city’s latest annual comprehensive financial report for the past fiscal year.

Chamber grant request. Council members will consider approving a $10,000 annual Chairman’s Circle sponsorship of the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce, along with a request of $4,848 to rent the Community Center for the Chamber’s monthly meetings. Funds would come from the city’s Economic Development Support Fund, which is allocated approximately $150,000 annually in the city’s budget.

COVID grant. The council will consider approving $320,000 from the city’s American Rescue Plan Act funding to go towards a new Small Business COVID Recovery Grant Program.
