Community survey seeks input on homelessness, COVID response

By Mike Hazlip—
Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost is asking residents of Citrus Heights and surrounding areas to give their input by completing an online survey.

Questions ask residents if they feel Sacramento County is headed in the right direction overall, while also asking for input on various issues such as homelessness.

One question asks: “Sacramento County currently spends over $60 million each year on homelessness. How much do you think the County should be spending?” Another asks: “Please rank how bad the homeless problem is in your community.”

Another question asks respondents to weigh in on a sales tax increase to pay for transportation improvements and road repairs. There are seven options with three different reasons to oppose and three in support. The last option is for “no opinion.”

The question of whether fireworks should be banned in Sacramento County is also asked, with four options including “no opinion.” Respondents are also asked if they support the current ban on marijuana dispensaries in Sacramento County.

Almost half of the questions, 11 total, deal with the government’s response to the COVID pandemic at various levels including federal, state, and local.

The survey is mostly multiple choice questions with an option to write in an opinion or comment at the end.

Frost has sent out similar surveys in the prior years. In a Feb. 9 email asking residents to fill out this year’s survey, the supervisor said she will use the results to “help understand exactly how I can best represent you.”
