Helicopter and siren activity could be heard Saturday night as Citrus Heights police responded to a report of an armed individual near Greenback Lane and Mariposa Avenue.
Police Corporal Justin Bridges told The Sentinel in a phone call Saturday night that officers had responded to the area just before 6:30 p.m., after receiving a report of an adult male with black pants, black sweatshirt, and red shirt possibly armed with a handgun. Officers observed a subject fitting the description enter a nearby apartment complex, Bridges said.
Multiple units established a perimeter with assistance from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department air unit, but the individual was not located after a search of the area, according to Bridges.
Police said the man did not reportedly threaten anyone or point the weapon at any individuals, and does not appear to be a threat currently.
“We can’t determine if it was a real firearm or a fake replica firearm,” Bridges said. “Obviously we treat them with the utmost care, especially when it comes to public safety.”
