Sentinel staff report–
A motorcyclist who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries during a July 2 collision on Old Auburn Road is now expected to survive.

Police Lt. Chad Morris told The Sentinel in a brief email update on July 11 that the motorcyclist “has improved and is expected to survive.” No further details were released.

As reported previously by The Sentinel, the collision occurred around 4:55 p.m. on July 2, near Holy Family Catholic Church. A police sergeant at the scene said the collision involved the fault of both parties, noting that the motorcyclist was speeding and the other vehicle was making a u-turn.

A man who was working a fireworks booth in the parking lot of Holy Family told The Sentinel he heard the collision and helped a police officer pull the motorcyclist out of the roadway.

Due to the severity of injuries involved an extensive investigation of the scene was conducted by the Citrus Heights Police Department’s Traffic Unit, police said in a subsequent news release about the incident. The roadway was closed for around four hours.
