Obituary: Thalia Dumaoal (1950-2022)
Citrus Heights resident Thalia Dumaoal passed away at the age of 72 last month, according to a recent obituary published in The Sacramento Bee. She is remembered for being a “truly intelligent, loving and caring woman,” as well as being the sister of 10 siblings. She was married for 40 years. (See full obituary)
Three candidates qualify for City Council election, so far
Out of nine residents who have pulled papers to run for a seat on the Citrus Heights City Council this year, so far three have submitted required documents and have qualified to appear on the November ballot, according to the latest update from the City Clerk’s office, dated August 5. Qualifying candidates for District 4 are Manuel Perez-Salazar and Albert Fox. The city’s current mayor, Porsche Middleton, is the only candidate so far to qualify for the District 5 seat. No one has qualified so far for the District 2 race, although four residents have pulled papers to run for the seat. Residents have until Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. to submit necessary paperwork. Report: Coyotes appearing in Citrus Heights ahead of season
ABC 10 published a news story on Friday saying that coyotes are being spotted around Citrus Heights, which is reportedly earlier than usual. The news station quoted a California Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesperson who advised residents to keep pets indoors and dogs on leashes, as well as to avoid leaving food outside.
