Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights welcomed dozens of new businesses in 2023, but also saw departures of a notable restaurant, retailers and other businesses during the same year.

Below are eight businesses in Citrus Heights that closed in 2023. The list is not intended to be exhaustive:

Big Lots. The year began with closure of Big Lots in January, located at 8525 Auburn Blvd. The site remains unfilled, with a leasing brochure advertising the 35,360-square-foot as available, although the adjacent long-unfilled spot next to the former Big Lots is now slated to become home to a Ukrainian church and community center.
