Byers Gymnastics Center was honored with the City of Citrus Heights’ inaugural Business of Distinction Award, the city announced during the City’s State of the City address on Nov. 6. The new award program highlights local businesses that “exemplify the values and strengths of the Citrus Heights community.”
Residents submitted 38 nominations and more than 300 votes, according to the city. With over 120 votes, Byers took home the highest amount of votes. The gymnastics studio frequently attends community events as a vendor and offers both recreational and competitive gymnastics classes along with other programs like Toddler Time, Parents’ Night Out, and seasonal activities that bring families together.
The theme for the fall business awards program was “Civic Heights,” honoring businesses that strengthen the community by living out the city’s core values of diversity, innovation, integrity, teamwork, respect, responsive customer service, and trust, the website says.
Byers was selected as the very first recipient for consistently demonstrating these values in its service to families and youth, the city said during the State of the City address.
City officials said the quarterly awards are designed to recognize businesses that not only drive the local economy, but also reflect the innovation, resilience, and community spirit that help shape Citrus Heights. Each quarter will feature a different theme to spotlight a broad range of business achievements throughout the year.
As the new program continues, future awards will shift to different themes. Winter 2026 will highlight legacy businesses with long-standing roots in the community. Spring 2026 will recognize industry excellence, and Summer 2026 will feature the Blight to Bright Award, honoring businesses that have transformed or revitalized their spaces.
