A collision involving three vehicles left one flipped on its side on Fair Oaks Boulevard in Citrus Heights Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Citrus Heights Police and emergency personnel responded to reports of a possible hit just after 2 p.m. and run on Saturday, Nov. 29, at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Villa Oak Drive near Old Auburn Road. Police arrived to find one vehicle on its side. Officers confirmed Saturday that no one was trapped and that all drivers were able to exit their vehicles.
Initial 911 callers reported that the driver at fault left the scene; however, officers clarified in a phone call Saturday that following the collision, the suspected fleeing driver’s vehicle glanced off a curb and then a tree, and then the vehicle’s brakes failed, preventing the driver from initially stopping at the scene.
Officers located the vehicle farther into the neighborhood, and the driver was cooperative and did not intentionally flee the scene, according to police. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. No major injuries were reported.
