A vehicle crashed into the garage of a home on Cordellia Circle Wednesday morning after the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m., when the driver unintentionally accelerated, causing the car to collide with the home’s garage door. Sgt. Dave Jones said the crash was accidental, rather than reckless behavior.
No one inside the home was injured, and the driver was also unharmed. At least one person was home at the time of the collision.
Although the garage door sustained damage, police said there was no structural damage to the residence itself. A building inspector was called to the scene, which Sgt. Jones noted is standard protocol whenever there is any question about structural integrity.
No arrests were made, and officers took a collision report, which is still being completed.
Police emphasize that the crash appears to have been an accident involving pedal misapplication, rather than any criminal or negligent conduct.
