The small restaurant building once home to Teriyaki Land is preparing to reopen with a new restaurant concept, construction workers say.

A visit by Sentinel staff last week found the exterior of the building formerly occupied by Teriyaki Land repainted a bright red and white. Former signage in front of the store has also been removed. Construction workers on site said the interior remodel is nearly complete.

Construction workers say a new restaurant should be ready to open early next year. The owner of the building was not available for comment, and The Sentinel was not able to verify an opening date.

The new owner told The Sentinel in 2024, before construction on Auburn Boulevard began, that he wanted to transform the building into a fast food restaurant and wanted to open in 2024.

Teriyaki Land closed in August 2021, according to prior reports. The 1,246-square-foot building was listed for sale in October 2021 for $675,000, but the price dropped by over $100,000, according to commercial real estate site LoopNet, before the property was purchased in early 2024.

Adjacent businesses to the building include Delish Pizza, Mann’s Liquor, Les Schwab Tire Center, and Romanian Christian Fellowship Church.
