One of three suspects have been released from jail after being arrested Sunday on charges of burglary.
Three burglary suspects were arrested Sunday afternoon following a reported grand theft at a retail store on Sunrise Boulevard, according to the Citrus Heights Police Department.
Police said the suspects entered the store, took multiple items of merchandise, and left the business without paying within a short period of time. The individuals then fled the area in a Jeep displaying a paper license plate.
Due to prompt reporting and detailed observations, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle within minutes near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Bremen Drive. Despite the absence of a traditional license plate, officers identified the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and initiated a probation search.
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered all of the stolen merchandise, which is reportedly valued at more than $2,200 according to a media release on the department’s social media account. The recovered items were returned to the business.
The suspects were identified as 32-year-old Tabitha Fischer, 39-year-old Davis Turner, and 53-year-old Jonathan Gilchrist.
Authorities also reported that all three suspects had prior theft-related convictions. All three were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Dec. 14. One of the suspects was also charged with drug possession.
Fischer has been released as of Dec. 15 according to Sacramento County main jail records. Turner and Gilchrist still remain in custody. Turner is being held on $60,000 bail. Gilchrist is ineligible for bail.
The Citrus Heights Police Department reminded residents to remain alert while shopping during the holiday season and to report suspicious activity, noting that community awareness plays an important role in preventing crime.
