A Citrus Heights Police officer was transported to the hospital just after midnight on Christmas Day after the officer’s patrol vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle collision late Christmas Eve.

Photos shared with The Sentinel show a patrol vehicle on the sidewalk facing a wall at the intersection of Antelope Road and Amsterdam Avenue, and another vehicle on the sidewalk facing the street. Multiple other officers and emergency personnel responded to the collision.

According to police radio traffic and KCRA, the police officer was taken to the hospital and another person in a second vehicle involved was entrapped temporarily in her vehicle. The roadway was also shut down for several hours following the collision.

The Sentinel contacted Citrus Heights Police for comment, but could not immediately reach a spokesperson. The condition of the officer is unknown.
