Citrus Heights City Council regional appointment recommendations announced for 2026

Each year, the Citrus Heights Mayor recommends appointments for City Council members to serve on various boards, commissions, and subcommittees to address local and regional issues like sewer, law enforcement, libraries, air quality, and transportation.

The following is a list of appointments is up for approval during the Jan. 14 City Council meeting. This year, the list is slated for approval in the consent calendar of the City Council agenda.

Appointment recommendations remain largely unchanged, with the exception of the new mayor taking on several roles that were held by last year’s mayor.

New in 2025, an Arts and Culture committee was established, and appointees are continuing to serve on the committee through 2026.

Regional Boards and Commissions:

  • Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission: Representative from Galt: Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff (alternate, representing Citrus Heights)
  • Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission: Vice Mayor Porsche Middleton, Jayna Karpinski-Costa (alternate)
  • Sacramento Public Library Authority: Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff, Tim Schaefer (alternate)
  • Sacramento Area Sewer District: Jayna Karpinski-Costa, Kelsey Nelson (alternate)
  • Sacramento Transportation Authority: Vice Mayor Porsche Middleton, Jayna Karpinski-Costa (alternate)
  • Sacramento Area Council of Governments: Tim Schaefer, Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff (alternate)
  • Regional Transit: Tim Schaefer, Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff (alternate)
  • Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District: Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff, Kelsey Nelson (alternate)
  • Sacramento Steps Forward Homeless Policy Council:  Mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff, Vice Mayor Porsche Middleton (alternate)

Council Ad Hoc 2×2 Subcommittees:
