After more than five decades as a staple of the local community, Sunrise Rollerland has announced it has been sold.
In a message shared with customers on social media, the roller rink said it has been sold to a new buyer who is committed to continuing to offer roller skating. The current owners said the facility will close in mid to late March, marking the end of an era, as it transitions to new ownership.
“After 52+ wonderful years of serving this community, Sunrise Rollerland has been sold to a buyer that is committed to keeping roller skating in the community,” the announcement read.
The business said it will continue operating as usual until its final day, promising to provide the same “high-quality service” customers have come to expect over the years.
While specific details about the new ownership have not yet been released, the announcement indicates that roller skating will remain a focus. Additional updates are expected as more information becomes available.
The rink also encouraged customers who have passes, discounts, or gift cards to use them before the closure date.
The long-standing business has served generations of families, hosting birthday parties, school events, and community gatherings for more than half a century.
Sunrise Rollerland is among the oldest businesses in Citrus Heights, having been established long before the city incorporated. The rink is “among the oldest anywhere,” according to the broker, and one of the largest in the world.
According to rink owner Ken Neutz, Roller King, just outside the city’s border in Roseville, and The Rink in Sacramento were also built around the same time, just before Rollerland was constructed in 1973.
The rink was listed for sale in early 2025 as both a building and a business together. The owner cites wanting to retire as the reason for the sale.
Sunrise Rollerland is still open for now and offers group lessons, birthday party packages, and multiple sessions for children and adults in the evenings. For more information on sessions and cost, visit the roller rink’s website. Sunrise Rollerland is located at 6001 Sunrise Vista Drive.
