Latest police logs include a road rage incident on Auburn Boulevard, cremated remains being found, a passerby reporting an in-progress burglary at a restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard, and an unusual spike in assault reports on Saturday.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletin for Feb. 7 through Feb. 10, 2018.
Feb. 10, 2018: Total of 65 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 13 disturbance-related, 3 homeless-related, 25 suspicious activity calls, 2 burglaries, 3 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 3 assault reports, and 4 collisions.
2:29 a.m., Suspicious Vehicle, Butternut Drive. An officer initiated contact with one or more people in a suspicious vehicle on Butternut Drive, resulting in at least one arrest. An hour later, another police log indicates contact was initiated with another suspicious vehicle at the Walgreens on Dewey Drive and Greenback Lane, which also resulted in an arrest.
6:54 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Walmart on Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted after a customer at Walmart tried to pay with a counterfeit $100 bill that he claimed he got from the bank. The customer was still on scene when police were called. Disposition listed: arrest.
11:16 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Greenback Ln. A witness chased several suspects after they reportedly smashed a window of a parked vehicle on Greenback Lane and attempted to run off with a laptop. The suspects dropped the laptop while fleeing the scene. Disposition listed: report taken.
1:49 p.m., Road Rage, Auburn/Sylvan. While driving on Auburn Boulevard, a woman told police that a driver of a Chevy pickup truck cut her off and then tried to “run her off the roadway intentionally.” Disposition listed: advised.
5:37 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Sylvan/Sylvan Valley. Police were contacted by a mortician who said he “just happened to come across cremated remains” in a bag on Sylvan Road and took it to his home. He said there was an ID number on the bag, but he was unable to determine if the remains were human or animal. Disposition listed: assisted.
5:59 p.m., Assault, Cedar Creek Wy. A tenant at a residence near San Juan Park reported that her landlord had just kicked her. She declined medical attention, but said a visible injury was left. Disposition listed: unfounded.
7:52 p.m., Vandalism, Lodge Coffee Shop on Auburn Blvd. A passerby advised police that 4-6 suspects were seen breaking into a newspaper stand in front of the Lodge Coffee Shop. Disposition listed: unable to locate.
Feb. 9, 2018: Total of 73 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 15 disturbance-related, 10 homeless-related, 24 suspicious activity calls, 3 burglaries, 2 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 8 assault reports, and 3 collisions.
3:56 a.m., Burglary, Marie Callender’s. A driver on Sunrise Boulevard reported seeing at least two suspects breaking into the Marie Callender’s restaurant around 4 a.m. The suspects were seen carrying items from a back entrance to the front, where a white four-door vehicle was parked. Disposition listed: assisted.
9:58 a.m., Petty Theft, Highview Ln. An unknown suspect reportedly drilled a hole into a vehicle on Highview Lane and siphoned all the gas. The caller requested an in-person report be taken and declined to file an online report. Disposition listed: report taken.
11:08 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Community Center on Fountain Square Dr. An ongoing problem involving a transient woman using the restrooms and loitering at the Citrus Heights Community Center was reported to police. A request was made that the woman be contacted and shown on her way. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.
11:09 a.m., Assault, Creekside Dental on Greenback Ln. An arrest was made after police were advised that a woman was assaulting a man at Creekside Dental, located near Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard. Disposition listed: arrest.
11:58 a.m., Fraud/Forgery, Rowan Wy. A caller told police he had been contacted by the “Lottery Commission” in Madrid, Spain, and told that he won $4.5 million. The caller had reportedly “sent in excess of $150,000” and wanted to report fraud. Disposition listed: report taken.
4:08 p.m., Domestic Violence, Mariposa/Greenback. A woman was observed jumping out of a moving vehicle that was travelling at slow speeds near Mariposa Avenue and Greenback Lane. A man was also seen allegedly grabbing her and preventing her from leaving. Disposition listed: arrest.
6:23 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Brook Dale/Oak Forest. Police were advised that transients were possibly squatting at an abandoned home on a residential side street near Steve Cook’s Fireside Lanes. Disposition listed: unable to locate.
8:54 p.m., Assault, Mariposa Oaks Apartments. Five roommates were reportedly fighting at an apartment complex on the 7700 block of Mariposa Avenue. No weapons were involved, but the log indicated the roommates had been drinking. Disposition listed: arrest.
