Citrus Heights Police Logs: animal abuse, red-light runner, anti-police mob

Latest police logs include a red-light runner being arrested after crashing into a wall near Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard, two men observed hitting a dog with a baseball bat near Twin Oaks Avenue, and a large group of people reportedly “yelling they hate the police” in the middle of a street near Van Maren Lane.

The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletin for March 22-28, 2018.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018: Total of 73 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 18 disturbance-related, 7 homeless-related, 19 suspicious activity calls, 5 burglaries, 2 petty thefts, no grand thefts, 2 assault reports, and 9 collisions.

6:05 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Starbucks on Greenback Ln. A transient man in his 40s was reportedly inside the Starbucks talking to himself. An officer was requested to show him on his way and police were advised that the same man had started a small dumpster fire the prior day. Disposition listed: advised.

12:35 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Holly Drive. Police were contacted by a woman who said she observed two men allegedly hit a dog with a baseball bat. She said the pair were then chased by a neighboring home owner who pursued after them with a bat as they fled towards Twin Oaks Avenue. Disposition listed: advised.

12:54 p.m., Identity Theft, in-person report. A man came to the police department and stated that for several years his brother “has been using his name when he gets arrested.” Another incident log on the same day indicated that the man may have been “impersonated” by his brother during a traffic stop that occurred last September. Dispositions listed: assisted, advised.

2:29 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Citrus Heights Community Center. A woman in her 40s reportedly caused a verbal disturbance inside the community center after she was asked to leave the building. She had been inside laying on a bench and charging her phone for an unspecified period of time. Disposition listed: advised.

5:25 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Meadows Apartments on Greenback Ln. Police were contacted by a man who said he was assaulted by a suspect in his 40s who was going through a dumpster at the apartment complex. The caller reportedly told the man to leave and was then assaulted. Medical attention was declined. Disposition listed: assisted.

5:45 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Bremen Dr. A group of about two dozen people were reportedly in the street “yelling they hate the police” at each other. The incident was reported on Bremen Drive, located off Van Maren Lane. Disposition listed: checks ok.

11:13 p.m., Shoplifting, Target on Sunrise Blvd. Police assistance was requested regarding a shoplifting suspect who was detained by loss prevention with approximately $300 worth of items. The suspect reportedly did not have identification, so police were requested to help in verifying the person’s identity. Disposition listed: assisted.

Tuesday, March 27, 2018: Total of 61 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 12 disturbance-related, 5 homeless-related, 24 suspicious activity calls, 5 burglaries, 1 petty theft, no grand thefts, 1 assault report, and 4 collisions.

12:49 a.m., Collision Unknown Injury, Sunrise/Greenback. A vehicle reportedly ran a red light and then crashed into the wall in front of the Walgreens store at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard. Police were advised that the driver was outside of the vehicle, but it was unknown if anyone was injured. Disposition listed: arrest.

6:50 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Eagle Mobile Home Park on Auburn Blvd. A man told police he had been “chased by a male wearing a cloaking device.” Additional information about the device was not included in the incident log. Disposition listed: report taken.

3:59 p.m., Petty Theft, Smart & Final on Madison Ave. Three suspects reportedly ran off with about $150 of meat from the Smart & Final store at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard. The suspects were described as two females and one male, approximately 40-50 years old. Disposition listed: report taken.

7:02 p.m., Indecent Exposure, Dollar Tree at San Juan/Greenback. A man in his 20s was reportedly “exposing his penis to people inside” the Dollar Tree store and was walking up and down the isle, while engaged in lewd sexual activity with himself. He was described as having tattoos on his face and long dread locks. Disposition listed: assisted.

7:54 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Curves on Sunrise Blvd. Police were advised that a vehicle had been found with its windows smashed out, with a ransacked purse laying nearby. The caller did not know who the owner of the vehicle was, and did not have any suspect information. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.

9:24 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Rusch Park. Numerous transients were reportedly observed setting up camp at Rusch Park, at the Veterans memorial site. Disposition listed: gone on arrival.
