On Wednesday afternoon, at least a dozen marked and unmarked police vehicles could be seen lined up along a small unnamed court off Old Auburn Road, causing some residents and passerby’s to wonder what was happening.
Asked about the heavy police presence, Citrus Heights Police Lt. David Gutierrez told The Sentinel in an email that the activity wasn’t a response to a crime, but was rather a K9 training.
The majority of police vehicles observed at the scene during the April 17 training had K9 decals, and several officers were seen with “Police K9” on their uniforms. Officers from both Elk Grove and Citrus Heights police departments appeared to have been involved in the training.
The training occurred on the 7600 block of Old Auburn Road, near Mariposa Avenue.
