Sentinel staff report–
Several public hearings are on schedule for the Citrus Heights City Council’s meeting this Thursday at 7 p.m. The meeting will also be preceded by a study session and closed session.
Here’s a brief summary of what’s included in the council’s 518-page agenda packet for June 27, 2019.
SPECIAL MEETING (4:30 p.m.)
- Study Session. A sexual harassment training for City Council members will be held prior to the regular council meeting, as required by state law every two years.
- Closed Session. Council members will meet with legal counsel to discuss “significant exposure to litigation.” No further details are included in the agenda packet, as allowed by law.
REGULAR MEETING (7:00 p.m.)
- Sylvan Library. The council will hear a presentation from the Sacramento Public Library regarding an update on Sylvan Oaks Library, which is currently closed for a remodel.
- Trail Project. City Council members will consider a staff recommendation to adopt a 400-plus page initial environmental study and “mitigated negative declaration” for a 2.9-mile multi-use Electric Greenway Trail, which would begin near Wachtel Way and conclude in the Sunrise MarketPlace. The trail has generated some controversy from neighbors who do not want the trail to pass behind their homes.
- Voting Districts. The council will hold a final public hearing prior to formally adopting a map that will split the city into five voting districts for electing council members, beginning in 2020. The council will also consider approving an ordinance related to the districting. The council voted unanimously to select a district map on June 13.
