Sentinel staff report–
Residents in Citrus Heights relying on their waste collection calendar for anything other than knowing when to put their garbage bins out at the street will likely want to disregard the calendar for Thanksgiving plans.
The annual calendar is used as a trusted source for residents to know which weeks their recycling or green waste bins will be picked up, but those using the calendar to find out when Thanksgiving is in 2019 will find the calendar is off by a week.
The calendar incorrectly lists Thursday, Nov. 21, as Thanksgiving, when it is actually the following Thursday, on Nov. 28. The calendar also incorrectly says City Hall will be closed on Nov. 22, when it will actually be closed on the day following Thanksgiving, Nov. 29.
Citrus Heights Operations Manager Mary Poole confirmed the error when contacted by The Sentinel and also confirmed waste collection dates are still correct.
Regular waste collection will be conducted on Thanksgiving, as listed in the calendar. The only holidays where waste is not collected are Christmas Day and New Years Day.
