While some businesses have layed off employees or permanently closed amid COVID-19 shutdowns, others are hiring. Here’s a few businesses in Citrus Heights that are currently hiring:
Lowe’s: The home improvement store on Greenback Lane is hiring several seasonal positions to help with customer service, cleaning and restocking the store. Hours can range from 10-40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the store. Shifts include morning, afternoon, and evenings, seven days a week, and flexibility for shifts are preferred. Minimum requirements include six months of experience using a computer, and preferred requirements include six months of retail experience. (See application)
PetSmart: The local PetSmart store is also hiring seasonal employees to help with customer service, pet care, and merchandising and inventory. Workers get the opportunity to gain experience, leadership skills, and problem solving through their work. (See application)
Leatherby’s: Leatherby’s Family Creamery posted on its Facebook page last week that its three locations are currently hiring, including in Citrus Heights. Applicants are preferred to be over 18-years-old and should be available weekends and evenings. (See application)
Target: Seasonal workers at Target are being sought to fill positions in general merchandising, stocking, and as a cashier. According to the job posting, workers will learn how to handle cash register options accurately, move up and down ladders to handle merchandising safely, work both independently and with a team, and customer service. SBA: The U.S. Small Business Administration, which has an 80,000-square-foot district office in Citrus Heights, is continuing to hire full-time temporary employees to handle customer service and loan processing needs that have arisen as businesses grapple with economic loss during the coronavirus pandemic. Postmates: The app-based delivery service is hiring part-time delivery drivers to help move food and merchandising around cities, including in Citrus Heights. Drivers can make up to $19 per hour, have unlimited vacation days and choose how many hours to work, according to the job description. Applicants are required to be at least 18-years-old and have a valid driver’s license. (See application)
Citrus Heights Police: The local police department is hiring at least one new full-time dispatcher. Police dispatchers must act well under pressure, and be able to receive, evaluate, and prioritize calls. Pay ranges from $26-37 per hour.
A Dispatcher I, the entry-level class, must have at least one year of public contact work experience, a passing score on the Dispatcher I assessment test, and be able to type 35 words-per-minute. Employees at this level will be working under supervision and learning job tasks. The Dispatcher II position listed requires additional experience. (See application)
