Sentinel staff report–
A drive-thru Christmas-themed event in Citrus Heights slated for this weekend has sold out.
A cap of 200 cars was imposed by organizers, with RSVP required online. As of Monday, the Citrus Town Center said the event was sold out.
The event, called “Santa’s Magic Trail,” will be set up at the Citrus Town Center on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 5-7 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard.
Organizers promise a contactless event where cars will be guided down a decorated street “filled with magic, nostalgia, street entertainers, gifts for the children, candy, and Santa.”
Kids are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring letters for Santa. Attendees are also asked to bring spare change and donate to the Citrus Heights Homeless Assistance Resource Team.
In a news release, organizers said the event was planned as a way to create a fun event during a time when COVID-19 restrictions have prompted the closure of museums, zoos and other activities.
