A collision involving four vehicles shut down a portion of Madison Avenue at Mariposa Avenue just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Citrus Heights Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel in an email Wednesday officers responded to the scene and closed westbound Madison Avenue and northbound Mariposa Avenue. He said one individual was trapped in a vehicle, but was uninjured.
“Two parties involved were transported to the hospital with minor injuries,” Wells said. “Several of the vehicles had to be towed from the scene and the roadway was reopened at 5:50pm.”
A woman involved in the collision told The Sentinel she was delivering medical supplies when her vehicle was struck while stopped at a red light. She said crews had to pry the driver’s side door from the vehicle to get her out.
Airbags could be seen deployed in several of the vehicles as tow truck drivers worked to clear the scene.
