The sounds of police sirens piercing through the night could be heard in various areas of Citrus Heights around 2:30 a.m. Friday, as multiple units conducted a high-risk traffic stop of a stolen vehicle.
Police Lt. Wesley Herman said the March 26 incident began after an officer observed “odd behavior by a male at a gas station and decided to further investigate as the vehicle left.” A license plate check soon revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from North Dakota.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but police said the driver was “very slow to yield.” Consequently, the lieutenant said additional patrol units from across the city were called in “Code 3” (police terminology for lights and sirens), as the incident was believed to be a pursuit or posing an imminent safety risk.
“The suspect driving the stolen vehicle eventually got trapped in a one-way alley in the Greenback Estates neighborhood where our officers were able to conduct a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and its two occupants,” Herman said. Both occupants were arrested and found in possession of several ounces of methamphetamine, according to police.
Herman said those arrested were a 47-year-old male from Roseville and a 34-year-old female from another state. Charges include felony vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of drugs for sale.
