SJUSD says students, staff not required to wear masks outdoors
The superintendent of the San Juan Unified School District announced during a board meeting Tuesday that students and staff are no longer required to wear face coverings when outdoors on school grounds. Face coverings are still required indoors, regardless of vaccination status, the district said. (See board update)
Sunrise MarketPlace moves forward with renewal
The Sunrise MarketPlace Property and Business Improvement District is moving forward with its renewal effort. The district reported to the City Council on Thursday that it had received 60% of petitions from property owners in support of renewing. The City Council has set a public hearing date for August 12. Obituary: Verlin Phillip Malloy (1929-2021)
Verlin Malloy passed away on June 20 at his home in Citrus Heights, at age 92. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked as a civilian mechanic for the Air Force. He enjoyed RV travel, fishing, crosswords and visiting with family. A funeral service will be held at Pioneer Baptist Church on Old Auburn Road at 10 a.m. on June 28. (See full obituary)
