Sentinel staff report–
Creative and custom Christmas light displays have once again popped up around Citrus Heights, as residents celebrate the holidays with decorated yards and rooftops.

For those looking for some of the best Christmas light displays in Citrus Heights, here’s eight of the top displays in town for 2021 — several of which are new to The Sentinel’s list this year.

Arriving before 9 p.m. is recommended to ensure displays are still lit, as some residents turn off their lights overnight.

Northridge Drive. A tastefully decorated front yard and rooftop display can be viewed at 7730 Northridge Drive, located in a neighborhood several blocks south of Greenback Lane near Hobby Lobby. Many of the inflatables are dog-themed, and a sign in the yard says “Northridge Dog Park Christmas.” A Christmas countdown timer can also be seen projected on the side of the home.

Wildwood Way. A pair of homes at 5501 and 5465 Wildwood Way feature thousands of lights, including candy cane-lined walkways, oversize Christmas ornaments, a nutcracker soldier, and other creative front yard decor. The home at 5465 Wildwood made it to the city’s Best Lights in Citrus Heights list this year as a nominee.

Karen Rae Ct. A home at the corner of Wes Way and Karen Rae Court is lit up with creative displays spanning the entire corner — and both sides of the street. Displays include colorful lighting on fences, lawn areas, and trees, and Santa can also be seen in a hot air balloon mounted in the back of a pickup truck in the driveway.

Bitterbush Way. The home at 6544 Bitterbush Way is again lit up with thousands of bright flashing lights, a herd of reindeer-shaped light displays, several inflatables, and a manger scene. A large banner in front of the home this year also says Santa visited the location on December 18.

Orelle Creek Ct. The annual displays on Orelle Creek Court are again lit up, where nearly every home on the entire street is annually decorated with thousands of multicolored lights, candy canes, manger scenes and more. The dead-end court is located off Old Auburn Road towards the Roseville border and draws a significant crowd of light-seekers each year.

Ansbrough Drive. A home at the corner of Ansbrough Drive and Winlock Avenue has decor and lights taking up an entire corner on a quiet residential street. The yard features huge inflatable holiday characters, motorized decor, tons of lights, and a large “Merry Christmas” sign mounted atop an inflatable arch. A Facebook page has also been set up for the display. (See page)

Farmgate Way. A home at 7600 Farmgate Way features thousands of flashing lights in the yard and rooftop, Frozen characters, music, and plenty of Christmas spirit. The home is located at the corner of Mariposa Avenue and Farmgate, and was featured in ABC’s Great Christmas Light Fight this year. Creekcrest Circle. Lighting displays at several homes on Creekcrest Circle, particularly 8324 Creekcrest, include inflatables, lights, angels, and more. The homes are viewable on the half-circle loop off Oakbrook Drive, near Mercy San Juan Medical Center. One of the largest manger scene displays in the city can also be viewed nearby at Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church, located at 5839 Dewey Drive.

The city’s official tree can also be seen lit up outside City Hall, at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. A home at 6617 Golden Rain Ct., just off Sunrise Boulevard, is also worth a drive by.
