Citrus Heights mayor endorses Ho for county district attorney
Mayor Porsche Middleton in a news release Thursday endorsed Thien Ho for Sacramento County District Attorney, calling him a “responsive and effective law enforcement leader that is committed to a balanced approach of protecting the community while embracing a strong and vibrant Citrus Heights.” Ho was a lead prosecutor in the Golden State Killer case and is one of several candidates seeking to replace current district attorney Anne Marie Schubert, who is running for California Attorney General this year.
Mayor recognized as “Top 25 Black Change Maker”
Citrus Heights Mayor Porsche Middleton was recently recognized by the Sacramento Bee’s Equity Lab as a “Top 25 Black Change Maker” in the region. In a tweet shared by the city last week, Middleton was noted as being the first Black woman to be mayor of Citrus Heights who “has worked to improve her community by developing housing policies and projects.” (See tweet)

Obituary: Richard “Rick” Benton II (1953-2022)
Rick Blake Benton II, a 40-year Citrus Heights resident and local bar owner, passed away on Feb. 17, according to an obituary published last week in The Sacramento Bee. Benton served four years in the army and later retired from Crystal Milk after 27 years. He was also a co-owner of a local bar called “The Blue Moon,” his obituary says. He leaves behind his wife, son, and several grandchildren and a great granddaughter. (See full obit)
