Man gets 25 years for assault at Citrus Heights homeless camp
Fox 40 reported last week that a man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for an assault at a homeless camp on Greenback Lane last year. Prosecutors said the man, Jeffrey Cross, punched and kicked a victim multiple times and then assaulted a witness. (See story)

Middleton featured on KCRA for being 1st Black woman mayor of Citrus Heights
KCRA last week featured a 3-minute interview with Citrus Heights Mayor Porsche Middleton to wrap up Women’s History Month. Middleton spoke about her journey to becoming the city’s first Black female mayor, noting that her first bid for City Council ended in defeat, but her subsequent race for the seat two years later ended with her winning a seat on the council in 2018. Bruins recognized with ’21’ annual ’21’ award at Stones
Citrus Heights Councilwoman Jeannie Bruins was recognized at Stones Gambling Hall last Tuesday with the casino’s sixth annual “21” award. The award is presented each year to recognize community members who have shown “exemplary commitment and dedication” to making a difference in Citrus Heights.
