Citrus Heights to host workshop for residents interested in running for City Council

Sentinel staff report–
With three seats up for election on the Citrus Heights City Council this year, the city on June 30 will host an introductory workshop for interested residents to learn more about what it takes to serve on the council.

The prospective council candidate workshop is free and will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, inside the council chambers at City Hall. An event posting from the city says the workshop will be led by retiring councilwoman Jeannie Bruins.

“[P]otential candidates will hear her experience on what it takes to be an effective City Councilmember, responsibilities, time commitment and more,” the posting says. The city manager and staff will also share about city governance, strategic planning, election requirements and deadlines.

The city says the event will be informational only and will not be a political event. Residents interested in filing for candidacy will be able to do so during the filing period, from July 18 to Aug. 12, 2022.

Those interested in attending the June 30 workshop can register online via an Eventbrite listing.
