One person is dead in Citrus Heights after what police described as an altercation with a group of people that resulted in a shooting.
Police Commander Kris Frey said in a phone interview following the incident that the shooting is still under investigation and authorities are working to confirm the age and identity of the male victim. Frey said officers responded to the 7700 block of Antelope road just before 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, after receiving multiple 911 reports of gunshots.
Police found the victim at the scene and called medical personnel who transported him to a local area hospital where he died.
Officers have not made any arrests in the incident, and Frey said police are still working to determine how many individuals were involved.
Witnesses in the area reported a heavy police presence at the Foxborough Apartments Friday night.
